It’s more than what your backpack rests on.

Without the Backbone you feel all the weight.

a man riding a bicycle with a messenger bag but without the Backbone and has back pain and is aching everywhere

Without the Backbone you feel all the weight.

Invented while touring on-and-off the

Pan-American Highway

Adam, our founder, first made it to Panama in 10 months after traveling by land with his bicycle and 44L hiking backpack from the Chicago area. Then, he resumed his travels in Colombia. So far, he’s spent 15 months on a quest to make it to southern Argentina while he learns more about himself, other people, and what other people do. More can be found about his travels here or @the1keen.

So, be bold.

Go somewhere nobody has been. We are the only one in the industry to design a luggage support attachment that doesn’t require any tools. So, say goodbye to nuts and bolts, instead, we use quick-release hardware.

Endure challenges.

Don’t let anything stop you. The frame is made from T6 6061 aluminum, the tubing is thick, and the surface is exceptionally durable with an anodized finish. So, it can withstand the toughest conditions and accidental drops.

Be minimalistic.

We could have ordered custom hardware and tubing but instead, we creatively worked with standard on-the-shelf stock. This makes production efficient and lowers our environmental impact.

Be better.

To be better, sometimes you need to do things differently and not just follow those who came before you. That, at least, is how the Backbone came to be and why it’s designed the way it is.

The only and original Backpack sidekick.

The Backpack sidekick, addition equation with the Backbone and Backpack logos and a tiny bicycle in between

The backpack always needed a sidekick because carrying all the weight on your shoulders is uncomfortable.

Wherever you ride, get a helping hand.

The Backbone relieves the burden your shoulders are carrying.

Day or Night

We added a reflective decal to increase visibility at night.

the decal saying "Backbone" is reflective in the dark to enhance safety and the letters are white during the day

The design,

is astonishingly simple, without compromise.

So, installation is quick and easy and it can be done on the go.

Take it off:

  1. Open the handle
  2. Twist/loosen it a few times
  3. Push the handle off the clamp-plate using your thumb

Put it on:

  1. Choose your rubber insert and press it into the clamp
  2. Place it on your seat post with the tube angled up
  3. Close the clamp-plate and push the handle with the spacer on top of the plate
  4. Twist/tighten the handle a few times
  5. Close the handle making sure the horizontal tube can bear weight with little movement. Tighten handle as needed.
  6. If needed, try the other rubber insert or both.

All without a single tool, and within minutes!

The Backbone; giving the support a backpack always needed.

– Founder, CEO, & Inventor, Adam

It supports up to 100% of the weight!

two silhouettes of people on a bicycle, one in an aggressive position and the other in a relaxed position, while in an upright position the Backbone supports most of the weight

Depending on whether you’re riding aggressively, relaxed, or anything in between, the Backbone can completely support the weight of your backpack.

Make a difference.

It starts with a simple product design.

🍃We selected round tubing which uses less material than shapes with corners, while also being stronger.

🍃We selected materials and hardware from standard on-the-shelf stock that is used in applications across the world, making production crazy efficient.

🍃We selected competent and high-quality suppliers and manufactures so that the end product will last as intended for a very long time.

🍃We selected to use the USPS Medium Flat-Rate Box, which is made from 98% recycled material, before production and designed our product to not exceed its space.

It’s more than you think.

No compromises.

We didn’t skimp… anywhere. The Backbone 8.2 is made with impressively high-quality detail. It starts with using the right material, T6 6061 Aluminum. It’s the industry standard for bicycle frames so we thought we’d outdo ourselves and make a bicycle attachment with it too. Then, we took it a step further and made the tubing extra thick so that it handles the roughest conditions and accidental drops. From there, we decided to TIG weld each piece together by skilled craftsmen. The result is a frame that will last for a very very long time, unlike other bicycle accessories that are made from cheap and thin material! Also, the frame is accompanied by hardware that will not disappoint you. So, the Backbone 8.2 is not only the first product of its kind but it’s made by a company that cares about producing the very best products.

Some things are simple:

ABC, 123, and the Backbone 8.3

It’s so simple and useful that we can’t believe it’s not already on the market.

Adam made the first-ever Backbone in Guatemala when he was traveling south and needed help carrying the weight of his heavy backpack. Read more about it here.

Backbone 8.3

It has taken 3 years to get here, 10’s of thousands of hours from me and my team, and a dozen prototypes. This is the pinnacle of backpack support and we are just getting started.

We are the very best.

Actually, there are no other contenders. We are the very first and only business in the world that has created a backpack support platform. Nonetheless, we are always competing with ourselves to do better because our greatest challenge is outdoing ourselves. We are working hard and staying sharp to be your go-to for all bicycle attachments. Anyways, you’re not only getting the best product but we also want to give you the best customer service possible. For support, we’ve created resources you can check out here. Also, we provide a 3-year limited warranty on the Backbone. Learn more about it here.
